Make yourself at home

With two decades experience in writing, styling, analysing and talking about all things interiors, I specialise in helping my clients create stunning styled set-ups, captivating copy, expertly planned campaigns and thoughtful workshops.

Well versed in working for both lifestyle brands and editorial publications, my work often places me at the intersection between the two - meaning I can create words, imagery and concepts which appeal to readers and consumers, in a way that feels friendly, interesting and informative rather than sales-ey and impersonal.

Straddling the β€˜press’ and β€˜brand’ camps means I have an innate understanding of what stories and images editors and journalists are looking for from brands, and in turn what will resonate with their readers. This unique perspective informs my work on both a micro and macro level, allowing me to work on a range of project scales and sizes, from  a single article to more in-depth productions covering several touchpoints.

I’m passionate about decoding design and making it universally accessible for anyone, regardless of personal tastes and budgets. And I love digging into the β€˜why’ behind it all and exploring how the spaces we inhabit can support our emotional wellbeing.

My approach is that of educating and empowering readers or consumers, rather than simply telling them what to do - and instead, giving them the inspiration, tools and understanding to purchase products or curate their homes in a way that’s perfect for them.

about me

As an accomplished interiors stylist, writer, author, creative consultant, trend forecaster, crafter, speaker and all-round homes obsessive, it’s safe to say I know how to make a space look gorgeous.

And I love helping others with this, too, from the brands and editorial clients I create and produce content for, to the renters and homeowners who have been inspired to try something new based on reading my published books and articles, seeing my styling work, or hearing me speak at an event or on a workshop.

But what really sets me apart is that I don’t just care about how a space looks - it’s how it makes those who live or work in it FEEL that fires me up. By taking into account the underlying psychology and neuro-aesthetics of how certain colours, shapes and materials can benefit our wellbeing, as well as championing design that β€˜does good’, the outcome will always be one that resonates.

how can i help?

for your brand

I’ve worked B2B for nearly two decades, and I’ve picked up a lot of know-how along the way. Some key aspects I could help with are:

* Styling and creative direction for your shoot, set, magazine or event

* Writing and trend insights for your publication, branded content or blog

* Creative strategy and consultancy focused on your brand visuals, the overall message you’re trying to convey, and how you can hone this

* Remote shoot styling strategy for smaller brands, to expertly guide your self-directed shoots

* Expert comment, workshops and brand collaborations, whether customer-facing or in-house

for your home

Through my styled sets, trend features and design-focused articles, books and social media posts, I always aim to inspire, empower and impart practical wisdom to anyone consuming them.

This has led me to launch a number of services aimed at both home-owners and renters, allowing you to access my input one-to-one with any personal decorating projects you might be struggling with:

* Book in for a pick-my-brains power hour, to help with any of your current decorative dilemmas

* Commission a remote style strategy session, where I’ll create a design blueprint for you to follow to make over any space you’re struggling with

MY BOOKs

an overview

For the past decade, creating, writing and contributing to design books has formed a chunky portion of my overall work output (and allowed me to tick off β€˜become a published author’ from five-year-old me’s bucket list!)

I’ve now worked with several different publishers to write and produce two of my own original concepts, two proposed titles which needed an author to bring them to life, and most recently, co-working with an author to aid the production and content of their own commission.

I’ve also worked as a stylist on over a dozen books for the publishers CICO, helping to produce lifestyle photography to accompany the respective author’s craft projects or design ethos.

While these all cover very different topics and styles, my aim with all of them is to offer easy-to-follow, empowering advice that can be applied to any home, budget or aesthetic preference.

GOT YOUR OWN IDEA FOR A LIFESTYLE BOOK, BUT NOT SURE HOW TO MAKE IT HAPPEN?

Building on all this know-how, and to address many of my frequently-asked questions, I’ve created a webinar on all things book publishing in association with 91 Magazine’s Creative Sessions, for anyone looking to tick β€˜author-dom’ off your own bucket lists, too.

This one-hour talk delves into the entire process, from honing your pitch to how to get it under the right noses, as well as explaining the practical steps required to take a book from initial idea to published product.

This one-hour talk features expert tips and insights from commissioning editors, publishers and recent first-time authors sharing their own experiences, alongside a resources list on who to contact across the UK’s top publishing houses.

HOW TO VIEW:

Available as a paid download of the original live Session, the replay will give you lifetime access to the recording, plus an exclusive PDF containing all the key talking points with clickable resource links.
